About

Recruiters who know the operation.

We came out of a consultancy that spends its working life inside factories and on construction sites. It shows in how we scope a role, and in who we put in front of you.

Where we came from

Oriel Recruitment is the specialist recruitment arm of Clerkin Consulting, an independent consultancy working in manufacturing, supply chain and construction products.

That parentage is the whole point. Most recruiters meet a business at the job spec. We meet it at the operation — the shift patterns, the quality standards, the production flow, the reason a line is running at eighty per cent — because that is the work our consulting colleagues do every day.

It changes what a shortlist looks like. When we scope a role we scope it against how the business actually runs, not against a document written three years ago for somebody who has since left. And when we talk to a candidate we can describe the place they would actually be walking into.

We began as Clerkin Connect. Oriel is the same team, the same sectors and the same phone number — now standing on its own.

How a search runs

Five stages, and you hear from us at every one.

01

Scope

We visit or call in. What does the role actually have to deliver, who does it work with, and what would make someone fail at it?

02

Map

We build a picture of who is doing that job well in your region, whether or not they are looking.

03

Approach

Direct, discreet contact. Candidates hear about the operation and the team, not a job spec pasted into a message.

04

Assess

Competency interviewing against the scope, before you meet anyone. References and right-to-work handled here, not later.

05

Place

A shortlist of two or three, with our honest read on each. We stay in contact through notice period and into the first months.

Scope

What we take on, and what we turn down.

We do

  • Manufacturing, engineering, construction and skilled trades
  • Permanent, contract and interim
  • Ireland and the UK
  • Confidential and unadvertised search
  • Succession planning and talent mapping
  • Competency interviewing before you meet anyone

We don’t

  • Sectors we do not understand — we will say so and point you elsewhere
  • Sending twenty CVs and calling it a shortlist
  • Contingent scattergun across multiple agencies
  • Placing someone we would not hire ourselves
What we hold to

Trust

Built on honesty, integrity and our ability to consistently deliver results.

Professionalism

We hold to the highest standards of professionalism and ethics in every engagement.

Community

We support local Irish business, talent and service suppliers.

People

The same people, start to finish

No account-manager handover. The person who scopes the role is the person who calls you about the candidate.
