The Senior Environmental Consultant will play a central role in the technical leadership and successful delivery of complex environmental projects. The successful candidate will manage key client and stakeholder relationships, guide multidisciplinary project teams, and ensure projects are delivered to a
consistently high technical and professional standard.
The Role
In this role, you will lead a diverse portfolio of environmental projects across the extractive and waste industries, as well as residential, commercial and industrial developments. Taking projects from proposal through to completion, you will provide technical leadership, manage client relationships, and
contribute to business growth. As a senior member of the team, you will also mentor colleagues and help shape the continued development of our clients consultancy services.
The key responsibilities of this role, can be summarised as follows:
Key Responsibilities
- Lead complex environmental projects from initial proposal through to completion.
- Take responsibility for proposals, technical quality, budgets, resources, and project programmes.
- Lead Environmental Impact Assessment projects and coordinate multidisciplinary technical inputs.
- Manage EPA Industrial Emissions Licence applications.
- Oversee discharge licence, waste licence and waste permit applications.
Manage By-product Article 27 and End-of-Waste Article 28 applications.
- Prepare and review environmental assessments, reports, applications and regulatory submissions.
- Provide strategic, technical and regulatory advice to clients.
- Ensure projects comply with relevant Irish and EU environmental legislation.
- Liaise with clients, project teams, external specialists, subcontractors and regulatory bodies.
- Engage with County Councils, the EPA, An Coimisiún Pleanála and other statutory authorities.
- Build and maintain trusted, long-term client and stakeholder relationships.
- Identify opportunities to expand existing client relationships and support business growth.
- Provide technical direction, mentoring and support to colleagues and subconsultants.
- Strengthen project-delivery processes and maintain high technical and client-service standards.
Relevant Technical Experience
Applicants should have broad environmental consultancy experience from across the following areas:
- Environmental Impact Assessment preparation and management
- EPA Industrial Emissions Licence applications
- Waste licence, waste permit and discharge licence applications
- By-product Article 27 and End-of-Waste Article 28 assessments
- Environmental compliance and regulatory assessments
- Irish and EU environmental legislation
- Complex environmental and technical reporting
- Multidisciplinary project management
- Client, stakeholder and regulatory engagement
Essential Requirements
- Ideally 10+ years' experience in environmental consultancy or a closely related area
- Significant environmental-sector experience gained in Ireland or the UK
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Environmental Science or a related discipline
- Proven experience leading environmental assessments, impact studies and regulatory applications
- Strong knowledge of Irish and EU environmental legislation and its practical application
- Excellent technical report-writing and project-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities
- Strong commercial awareness, including an understanding of project budgets and resources
- Confident communication with clients, stakeholders and regulatory authorities
- Ability to provide clear technical leadership and direction
- Full clean driving licence and willingness to travel as required
Desirable
- Project management qualification
- Chartered status or membership of a recognised environmental professional body
- Experience mentoring or supervising environmental professionals
- Safe Pass, Manual Handling or First Aid certification
